(Updated) Pope calls for Fasting on September 7th for Peace

9/03/2013 , , 0 Comments

Pope Francis has called for all Catholics to fast on September 7th, this Saturday, the vigil of the Feast of Our Lady's Birth, for peace throughout the world, and especially in Syria.  That happens to be the day that we will be inviting the parents and pastors of all they guys to Bruté for Mass and tours and what-not, so that will make it a little bit more difficult, but you-know, if the Pope asks for something, even when not canonically binding, it's probably a good idea to obey.

Update: My bishop, +Bishop Thomas John Paprocki, has written about this day of fasting and has asked that parishes stay open from noon to 5PM (Central Time) so that people can pray as well as fast.

I had a wonderful visit with my family (and sister), so stay tuned for some comments on the weekend.  Otherwise, back to the books tomorrow...
