Ave Maria - As sung by the Bishop Bruté Schola - 9-7-13
Last Saturday, for the 9th anniversary of the founding of Bruté, we had our annual parents and pastors day where, as you might suspect, we invite the guys' parents and pastors to come and visit the seminary. Bishop Tobin graciously allowed us to move the feast of the Birth of Mary to Saturday, so we could fittingly celebrate the patron of the seminary, Our Mother Mary. I had a wonderful time with my parents (we went to this new Catholic goods store in Indy, where I saw this awesome tie with St. Michael on it - I totally should have gotten it - we also got some ice cream, which was fantastic.)
Anyway, back to the topic of this post, the schola sang "Ave Maria" (sorry, I don't remember which version), for the offertory hymn, and based on people's comments afterwords we sounded pretty good. Sorry for the goofy angle on the video, I was trying to make the camera less conspicuous. Also, I was playing with the audio a bit (mixing two sources together) to make it more balanced, so let me know what you think. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing such beautiful Mother Mary music...very calming and inspirational
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment Grandma! It was a ton of fun to practice it with the guys - but was challenging. It was pretty great to pull it off well. Thanks for reading so avidly!
DeleteSounds great! It's nice to see that the Schola has gone from 4 guys to as big as it is now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment! There are so many guys at Bruté that have musical abilities - it's awesome!
DeleteIt's so nice to see sacred music being sung at a seminary! It gives me high hopes for the next generation of priests!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'm sending a good Apple microphone back with Bobby that will hopefully improve on an already great recording. It works great with Apple GarageBand program. Hope you can use it. We are so glad you are posting these and look forward to more.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Wow, people are awesome!
